ACHIEVEMENTS OF TAMILNADU POLICE

Through the modernization of the police force crime detection rate in Tamilnadu, which was 71% in 2001, has improved to 86% in 2005.

1. It is the 5th largest State Police Force in India.
2. TamilNadu can be proud that it is the 1s State in the Country to initiate the concept the concept of All Women Police Stations (AWPS).
3. The 1st state in India to form a separate cell to control and curb video piracy.

4. The 1st state to have an elite women commando contingent, women’s battalion, and also women’s wing in each police station.
5. The 1st state to initiate a state of an art Integrated Control Room.
6. Caring for the Force : Honourable AMMA has sanctioned Rs. 20 lakhs to facilitate a school for children of TamilNadu police officers. While 60% of the seats will be reserved for them and the remaining 40% is open to the public, it will be set up on the outskirts of Chennai.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF ROAD & HIGHWAYS DEPARTMENT

1. The CM had sanctioned of Rs. 2,688 crores for the development of various highways services for the past 4 years.
2. In the past 4 years, government has ensured n number of plans for the development of highways.
3. According to the National Highways Plan Services the government had allocated funds of Rs. 343.13 crores in order to finish over 1,184.31 km roadway services and also 23 bridges.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

1. The TamilNadu government had ensured loan of Rs. 1,083 crores from the world bank for the water resources scheme of services.
2. The TamilNadu government made a proclamation for Rs. 124 crores in order to expand the supply of metro water for Chennai.
3. The government allocated Rs. 411.52 crores for the construction of buildings in orders to increase the public works services for the past 4 years, according to the needs of the public.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT

1. The government had introduced “Namadhu Gramam” (our village) plan in order to increase the facilities in villages and also to improve the standard of living of the people in remote areas. (For this scheme the government had allocated Rs. 200 crores)
2. The government had allocated Rs. 25 crores for the weaver’s community to develop their business in order to maintain the stable position in the society.

Fostering housing security for the rural poor.
A major programme to upgrade 1.5 lakh kutcha houses into pucca houses has been taken
up at an outlay of Rs. 37.50 crores during 2005-2006.
“Namadhu Gramam Scheme” (Our Village) has become a social movement in the state.
This scheme is in ordder tok achieve 100% enrolment of children in schools, poverty
reduction, reduction kof infant mortality, elimination of female foeticide/infanticide
and improved village sanitation.

1. The 1st state in India to formulate the “Women Self Interest Groups” around 19,79,494 members in 1,20,005 groups.
2. Through this scheme the members saved Rs. 560 crores and also the government arrange loan facilities of Rs. 863.51 crores for the development of small scale industries for the women.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF IT SECTOR

Mr Bill Gates, Chairman and Chief Software Architect, Microsoft Corporation called on the Honourable Chief Minister AMMA.

A new innovative training programme called “Project Siksha” of the Microsoft Corporation to improve the quality of education was launched today through Video Conferencing.

In the IT sector there are 400 new companies started in TamilNadu in other words,at least one IT companyhas located based in TamilNadu everyday.
